This page is about a specific type of map. For other meanings of "control", see Control (disambiguation).

Control is one of the map modes in Overwatch.

In Control, there are three stages that get cycled through every round. All stages are symmetrical with a single control point in the center that both teams will attempt to capture.

After 30 seconds of setup time, both teams are let out of their spawn rooms simultaneously. After another 30 seconds, the point is unlocked and either team may capture it. Once a team has taken the point, their percentage will begin rising at the rate of 1% every 1.2 seconds. If the other team captures the point, their percentage will start increasing while the other team's will pause.

If Overtime occurs, the percentage will be frozen at 99% until it ends. If either team reaches 100%, the round will end, that team will earn a point, and a new round will begin on a different stage.

In standard play and competitive play, Control maps are played in a best-of-three format (first to 2 points wins). Competitive Play formerly increased it to best-of-five (first to 3 points) before changing it back in Season 6 to best-of-three format. All Brawls! reduced it to a best-of-one prior to its removal.

Win a Control map without the enemy capturing an objective in quick or competitive play.
